Located on a secluded beach in Cutler, Maine, the Bear Beach House sits on 14 private acres and overlooks picturesque Machias Bay.

Reminiscent of a log cabin lodge, this house features a grand and comfortable great room with cathedral ceiling, dining area, entertainment center with satellite TV, DVD and authentic fieldstone fireplace.

The house has 3 bedrooms with 3 queen beds and a spacious sleeping loft with four twin beds. The house boasts a total of two dining areas and two full baths.

Bear Beach House - guest bedroom The master bedroom has one of the full baths attached, as well as a fieldstone fireplace and French door access to the oceanside wrap-around deck. The house has a wonderful open kitchen with breakfast bar, microwave, dishwasher, lobster pot and all other cookware guests would possibly need. The house also includes high speed Internet, washer, dryer, outdoor gas grill, rear grilling deck and a stairway to the beach.

At the this house renters will enjoy long private walks on the extensive beach and shoreline. Beyond the beach renters can harvest their own clams and have an authentic coastal Maine meal. Put together with lobsters and corn on the cob, there's nothing better!

Access for sea kayakers in front of the house is perfect. From the beach it is a short paddle to Hog Island to view Indian rock carvings (petroglyphs) which were pecked into ledges hundreds of years ago by the Algonquin Indians. These unique petroglyphs are located on the southwest side of the island and are engraved into the latent shale stone.

The Bear Beach House is located only 10 minutes away from beautiful Cutler harbor where visitors can buy fresh lobsters or board the Barbara Frost for a trip out to Machias Seal Island where the Atlantic Puffins gather.

Bear Beach House - view of picturesque Cutler Harbor The house is also only a few minutes drive away from two of the most spectacular oceanside hiking trails on the east coast - the Western Head Trail (located on the west side of Cutler harbor) and the Cutler Coast Trail (located just to east of Cutler harbor along the Bold Coast). Both of these hikes expose area guests to some of Maine's most rugged and bold crashing surf shorelines east of Acadia.

Bear Beach House - West Quoddy Head light Guests can also visit scenic Lubec where West Quoddy Head light house is located and its wonderful coastal hiking trail. Just across the bridge from Lubec is Canada's Campobello Island with its terrific golf course, quiet fishing hamlets, and towering East Quoddy Head light house where whales are often seen spouting in the distance.

Both Lubec and Campobello Island are only 30 minutes from Bear Beach. Also, New Brunswick, Canada is only 1 hour and 15 minutes away and Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park are just 2 hours from the house. Both destinations are easy day trips from the property.

The house is available all year around for Saturday to Saturday rentals.

Dogs are welcome but cats are not permitted. Smoking is not permitted in the house.

A 50% reservation deposit is due within 14 days of making your reservation. The balance of rental fees are due 30 days prior to arrival. A $500.00 refundable security/damage deposit is also due on all rentals.

The house is 2 hours from Bangor International Airport and 5 hours from the Portland Jetport.

The house is 7 hours from Boston and 11 hours from New York City.
